I was asked that question by a new client the other day. My first thought were these words by the Rolling Stones; you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might find, that you gme cape codet what you need!

No, I didn’t break into song when she asked me the question, but it IS a good question, right? Does the Law of Attraction really work?

The short answer is – yes! The Law of Attraction truly works. In fact, it is at work every day in your life. It always has been, and always will be. This doesn’t mean that you’ll always get what you want! The Law of Attraction is based upon the thoughts you think. You think a thought and you’ve just created a thought-form. This thought-form has a life of its own based upon the quality and intensity of life you breathed into it. What gives your thoughts life? Your emotions! Think about it:

Let’s say every Monday you get out of bed thinking ‘Oh crud, it’s Monday. I hate Monday’s. Monday’s NEVER go well for me. I hate my commute, I don’t want to go back to work . . .’ you get the idea, yes? So you’ve been thinking those thoughts every Monday for quite a long time and my guess is that those thoughts are not filled with warm, fuzzy happy feelings. Nope, they are probably filled with emotions like boredom, frustration, perhaps even anger. Now you have Monday thought-forms energized with negative emotions buzzing around the atmosphere. You’ve sent those little guys out to do your bidding. What happens next? Maybe a parking ticket, a traffic jam, an angry boss or co-worker, you name it. And then you can say ‘You see? I TOLD you Mondays never went well for me and this is the proof!’ And Voila! The Law of Attraction has worked again!

The key is to learn how to stay focused on what you WANT to experience, regardless of what you are going through in the moment. And although this sounds simple – it does take practice and perseverance to retrain your brain!

What? You’ve been applying this concept to attract more money and you’re still broke?

What? You’ve been working really hard and have spent thousands of dollars going from class to class, group to group, coach to coach, teacher to teacher who all promise to help you bring that perfect mate into your life – and you’re still single?

Yes, the principles work. But every person is a unique individual with a pre-programmed subconscious mind, including yourself! Your subconscious mind might be operating on a belief system that doesn’t allow you to truly buy-in to the concept that you can have a healthy relationship, a healthy bank account or what have you. Your subconscious mind might believe it’s doing a fabulous job protecting you from getting hurt, so keeps creating situations that will block what you want from manifesting into your life.

This is the reason hypnosis is so important and such a valuable, powerful modality to get the Law of Attraction working in the positive for your life goals and dreams. With the proper facilitation you can release the old programs that haven’t been working for you. You can let go of the blocks and all the uncomfortable feelings that go with them. Once you’ve done that, you can then start picturing and feeling what you want to bring into your life. You’ll be amazed how much faster the process will be!

We’ve just entered the Autumn Season. My next blog entry will explain why this is the best time of year to start letting go of everything you no longer want to experience in your life. I’ll include some simple exercises that I’ve been using for many years that really do work – when you work them! I’ll be writing this within the next day or two. If you want to be prepared, I invite you to start making a list of all the situations you no longer want to experience. Let me – help you – make this the best time of your life so far!

Until then, love and blessings to all who wander by to read this post!

I’ve been meditating on forgiveness. I deeply believe it is important to practice forgiving, letting go and moving forward in life. This is something I have been applying in my daily life for many years. A few months ago I was accused of holding on to old resentments and not forgiving certain people from my past. According to these individuals, from their perspective, had I truly forgiven I’d be open to going out to dinner with and/or inviting these people into my home. The ones accusing me became quite passionate, if not downright angry at my behavior. I was accused of being willing to help drug addicts and alcoholics but not my old friends.

I was quite surprised at this outburst. I remember my teacher saying that when we speak we are usually talking about ourselves first, if we haven’t taken the time to clear consciousness. Or, if the shoe fits wear it, if it doesn’t kick it off!

So what exactly does it mean to forgive?

The definition of forgive from the dictionary is: stop feeling angry or resentful toward someone for an offense, flaw or mistake.

So forgive is a verb. It is something we need to take action on, vs. something we just think about.

I recently had a conversation with an individual who is in the process of filing for a divorce after forty years of marriage. He is filled with lots of anger and has been resenting people and situations for more than forty years! That’s a long time of holding a grudge and keeping things internalized. So I wasn’t too surprised when he told me he might have liver problems.

From the book Heal Your Body, Louise L. Hay says liver problems stem from the thinking/emotional process of chronic complaining, justifying fault-finding to deceive yourself. Feeling bad.

Whoa! You mean the more we think about something with lots of negative emotions we can create symptoms of illness in our body? That’s right! You’ve heard the saying you are what you eat? Well even truer, we are what we think!

I suggested to my friend that he might want to start thinking positive thoughts and getting some positive feelings flowing through his body. His answer? I don’t have anything positive in my life. Wow! I could think of ten in that moment – and it wasn’t even my life!

Forgiveness is not for the other person. Forgiveness is for our self.

Why? Because we are the ones left walking around feeling crappy. Think about a situation when somebody really made you mad.  Perhaps you kept dwelling on the issue, talking about it to your friends. And yes, maybe at the time it was a bad thing that happened to you. Now fast forward to the present. Are you still complaining about the same thing? That person did it to me! That person ruined my life, screwed me over, or that person_________________, you fill in the blank!

That person is probably happy and enjoying life. They most likely have no idea you are still upset. And guess what? You’re the one holding the bag of cruddy feelings, not them! You’re the one making yourself sick based on the thoughts and emotions constantly running through your space.

Does forgiveness mean I have to be a doormat? No! But when you can run forgiveness through your body towards someone you are releasing yourself from the karmic debt between the two of you. You are actually setting yourself free. And just because you forgive someone doesn’t mean you have to hang out with him or her. I’ve forgiven many people in my life that I now choose to love from a distance! Let me share an experience.

Approximately eleven years ago I was going through a hellacious life challenge that involved the father of my kids, the court system and my right to raise my daughters as I deemed best and that included my right to home school. The things being said about me were hurtful, ugly lies. It was terrible. I became very angry and I wanted to find revenge. Then I had a life changing experience.

My pastor at the time (now deceased) facilitated a spiritual hypnosis session with me. I honestly don’t recall the words or suggestions he gave, all I remember is my entire body was filled with light. I had a burning sensation start at the top of my head that ran all the way down to my feet. I was enveloped by an incredible sense of awe, peace and love. The only words I’ve ever been able to use that come close to describing what this was like is that I was filled with the Holy Spirit.

I saw all my antagonists standing before me and all I could do was love and forgive them. And at first this kind of pissed me off! I wanted to hold on to the hate and resentments! But that became more painful, it was easier to let go and allow love to flow. I emerged from trance knowing I had changed. And to this day, I’ve never been able to resent anyone for a long time. Do I get angry if treated unfairly? Of course I do! But even when I’ve tried to run hatred through me – and yes – I’ve tried, I can’t do it, it’s just not there. Do I choose to hang out with these people? No, but I can still forgive them. I can also forgive myself for allowing the situation to happen. This sets me free to move forward in my life.

The other day I drove an hour to bring food to my daughters’ dad because he wasn’t feeling well. Eleven years ago I never would have dreamed this would be possible. And I was checking my space to see if I had any remaining resentments inside and realized I was clear. This made me happy because not only was I free – he was too. Mistakes were made by both of us but we had each moved on.

What about you? Are there people you are still resenting? Bad things happen but you owe it to yourself to forgive, let go of the painful past, and move forward in life.

If you truly desire to let go and embrace positive change find someone who can help you with the process. I believe using hypnosis is the most powerful approach because you’ll be in your subconscious mind where all the old uncomfortable feelings are stored. From hypnosis you can release and let go and focus on how you want to be feeling. You can strengthen your mental muscles to think more positively. You deserve to be happy!

All healing is awakening and remembering who we are – spirit. We are not just the physical body, but spirit; the living consciousness that gives the body its life and animation. Why don’t we already know this? Why do we have to be reminded? We are born into a state of forgetfulness. We are asleep to our spiritual identity.

Let me give you an example to better explain this concept. When an actor goes to Hollywood to be in a movie, they are given a script about the character they will portray. The character has a certain type of personality and the movie has a storyboard about the character’s life. When an actor really gets involved in their role and believes they are that person for the duration of the filming, they usually win the Oscar. We all believed they were the character as well; we temporarily forgot we were watching an actor playing a part.

When you were born you were given a role to play. The character’s name was whatever mom and dad named you. The storyboard you were given about this character is the life you grew up in: Your name is John. You are Catholic. You will grow up to be a doctor, marry and have three kids, etc. See the correlation? All the information about your life “storyboard” went into your subconscious mind, the storehouse of memory of all the things you’ve ever done in your life.

This became the foundation of who and what you believe you are. When you became an adult and attempted to create a change or do something that went against the information, is when you experienced effort, guilt, failure etc. These issues of guilt, effort or failure can also manifest as a physical problem in your body.

Maybe you’re overweight, or have chronic pain or suffer from insomnia, to give just a few examples. All healing is awakening to who you are, and when you tap into your true power within is when you can effectively create positive, permanent change in your life. This is where utilizing hypnosis to experience the connection of your body, mind and spirit comes into play.

Through hypnosis you are able to alter your consciousness and can then change your perspective to create a positive change in your life. When properly guided with a facilitator, you can rise above the belief that says you’re just a body, and get in touch with who you are as spirit. This is when you can really learn how to use your mind to keep yourself well. You realize you have power to choose the type of thinking you want to entertain which brings forth health and well being, financially, mentally, spiritually and physically. It’s putting the Law of Attraction into your life in a positive, conscious modality. When you are aligned in body, mind and spirit you become empowered to be the architecture of your life dreams.

Meditation and hypnosis are often seen as one and the same. The truth is, they are not. Let me explain why.
Meditation is an emptying out process. It’s a time to quiet the mind and still the thoughts that run through your head all day long. To properly meditate, you need to stop thinking. However, this isn’t as easy as that may sound.

When I first started meditating, my mind was going something like this: “Okay, I’m going to sit here for thirty minutes and not think. Okay, now I’m thinking about how I’m not suppose to be thinking. Right, now I’m thinking about what to eat for dinner and that cute little dress I saw in the store window the other day.”

Sound familiar? Once we’re caught up in the thought stream of the world, it’s hard to unhook. The thought stream is from the analytical part of our mind, the conscious mind. We can stay caught-up in thoughts for a very long time. Often, those thoughts are not even our own!
Why meditate? Science has proven that meditation helps lower blood pressure, release stress and gives you an overall feeling of peace and well-being. Even with the high stress and tension people experience in their fast paced daily lives, meditation helps to slow things down and puts life in a different perspective. The problems are still there, but now there is a different way to handle the situations.

Spiritually, we meditate to re-connect ourselves to our Source. Whatever name label you have for “God”, meditation is a time of quiet inner-reflection, to become united with the God of your heart. Prayer is when you talk to God, meditation is when you get quiet and allow God to talk to you. It’s difficult to hear with all that babble going on!

If meditation is an emptying out process, what are we releasing? The thoughts that have you believing there is something wrong with you. The thinking you entertain that says you are not already connected with God, or that you have to be good and perfect to be accepted by your Creator. In short – the hypnotic state you’ve been in that has you believing you are not okay, just the way you are.

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind we go into everyday. Getting caught up in a good book or movie, studying for an exam and losing track of time are simple examples of being in hypnosis. To go into hypnosis and enter into the subconscious mind, you must by-pass the critical factor of the conscious mind – the thought stream!

This can be done quickly, easily and effectively. One does not need to be relaxed to go into trance, relaxation is a by-product of having been in hypnosis. Why? Because you have relaxed the body and mind together, which allows the nervous system to flush out all the pent-up stress and tensions. This is why one hour of hypnosis is equal to eight hours of sleep; the mind is guided into slowing down the brainwaves, simply by following the instructions given by the facilitator. When the mind relaxes, it is able to let go.

Why isn’t hypnosis the same as meditation? When you are being guided through a creative visualization session by someone, it may be called meditation, but you are establishing selective thinking based upon what the person is saying. Spiritually, we are in hypnosis all the time. People are “asleep” to who they are as a spirit, living in a body. They are in a trance state of believing to be the body/personality, with all the issues and problems causing the stress and tensions.

Hypnosis is a wonderful, powerful tool to locate the reasons as to why you are stuck believing certain things, such as those mentioned above. Once you find the source of the problem, you can let it go! Once you let it go, your mind has been emptied out from that quality of thinking.

This is why hypnosis is a great way to enhance meditation. You can use the scientific approach of hypnosis to enter into your subconscious mind. Once in trance, you can release the old thinking patterns. Once you’ve done that and your mind is clear, you can move into a quiet state of meditation. You’ve reconnected with yourself as spirit. I see this in people all the time; they’ve been guided through a trance/hypnosis session and when it’s over, they are incredibly quiet – no thoughts, just peace and quiet.

That’s the meditative state. The door to get there? Hypnosis. It’s the fastest way to hop out of the thought stream. But hypnosis will not take you through that door. Hypnosis will show you why things are the way they are, and how things can be if you choose to alter your thinking. Once you’ve done that, now meditate. This is the only way to awaken to your higher good, and all healing is awakening to who we are, isn’t it? Yes it is!
