One of the biggest challenges I see people dealing with when they want to create change is learning to be happy, or at least accept, where they are in life right now. How many times have you thought something like this: When I lose weight, I’ll be happy. When I finally have a relationship, I’ll be happy. When I have more money, I’ll be happy. When I move to a better location, I’ll be happy.

What’s your personal mantra for this? Fill in the blank for yourself: When ___________________, I’ll be happy.

All these conditions to personal happiness become the carrot being dangled out in front of you. You’re taking all your creative energy and sending it out to the future and leaving nothing to create with for the here and now. Your subconscious mind has been programmed on different levels.

Program #1) You can’t be happy right now because you haven’t met that goal.
Program #2) The belief states the goal is unattainable because so far, nothing has happened.
Program #3) There is something wrong with the way your life is today.

The first step to spiritual unfoldment is to learn to accept where you are in the moment. Once you do that the following realization is, you don’t have to stay there! By acknowledging the situations and circumstances that cause you to be unhappy is shining the light on them. Until now, you’ve been shoving them under the carpet, resisting them and wishing they’d just go away, while projecting all your feel good positive energy to some illusive time and place out into the future. This pattern gets exhausting and tends to create disease because you are not at ease in your thinking!

Does this mean you’ll never be able to create those changes? Of course not! But there is some housecleaning to be done! Are you ready? Let’s start some Mary Poppins music “Just A Spoonfull of Sugar” because this CAN be fun!

Grab your paper and pen. You’re going to create categories for the different aspects of your life. Examples:

Physical: Start with your body. Move out to your home. Your neighborhood etc. Write down what it is you don’t like about those things. Start the sentence with “I admit, I have uncomfortable feelings about……” and write them down. For instance: “I admit I have uncomfortable feelings about my weight….” By stating ‘I admit’ is akin to shining the light into a dark corner. You are acknowledging those thoughts and feelings are there. The moment you acknowledge their existence is the moment those conditions and circumstances begin to lose control over you. Take your time with this before moving to the next category.

Emotional: Write down the situations that push those emotional buttons. I admit, I get angry when I’m stuck in traffic, my boss yells at me, I admit I’m unhappy that I don’t have a relationship etc. Get them all out! The people and situations you are not neutral to – write them down!

Mental: What is the negative babble running through your mind? You know what I’m talking about, the negative self-talk that seems to flow so clear and strong. I admit I am tired of thinking I am unworthy. I admit I have negative thoughts about…you’re getting the idea now, aren’t you? That’s right!

Financial: Here’s a fun category! What can we find here? I admit I have fear about my bank account. Debt. Retirement. Write it all down. You want to purge yourself of all the uncomfortable feelings and beliefs that have been your personal roadblock to abundant living.

Spiritual: Are there stuck pictures in your subconscious mind about God and religion from your childhood? Do you believe you are not worthy to have a personal relationship with your Higher Self? Write this all down. Are you pissed at the Universe for the situation you are in today? You got it – write that down too!

Important next step! After you’ve written down what you are unhappy about from each category, go back and write down three to five aspects about those same things you are thankful for: I am grateful that I have a body. I love my eyes. I love the color of my living room walls in my home….see?. This is super important because one, you won’t be leaving yourself in a bummer state of mind after doing the exercise. And two, as you proclaim your thankfulness and gratitude for everything in your life you are actually blessing and energizing your life in the positive. You’ve finally moved onto the acceptance step and have started the process of abundant living! Now you can be at peace because you have allowed yourself to be there while knowing you can and will take the positive steps to create change. Have you been writing your Purge List? Keep at it!

I created this Forgiveness Exercise video a while ago. I encourage you to work with this every day. You’ll be amazed how you will be able to clear your subconscious mind of the imprints and uncomfortable emotions you’ve been carrying for so long. Remember, you deserve to live the life you were born to live!

We’ve just entered the autumn season. Autumn is the time for harvest and is also a time of completion.  The seeds that were planted in the spring have grown into the fruit bearing plants and are now reaching their peak of bounty.

This is the time of year when we can witness the fruits of our own mock-ups for 2014. What seed ideas did you plant for your life goals and dreams? Have you manifested what you desired? Did the same old weeds keep popping up as different situations and challenges attempting to block your goals from taking form?

Are you happy with your creations? If not, why not?

Most of the issues people have in their lives; the beliefs in struggle, lack, limitation and the non-ability to live a happy, healthy and abundant lifestyle, stem from the root cause of not knowing who they truly are as spirit. We get hypnotized into believing we are the body/personality and have fallen to sleep to our true spiritual identity.

You have a body – but you are not that body. You have thoughts – but you are not those thoughts. You have emotions – but you are not those emotions. You are spirit. Your body is your house. The quality of life you choose to live is based on the thoughts you continuously think. Your emotions are the language your body uses to let you, spirit, know what’s going on in your environment.

Autumn is the perfect time of year to awaken from spiritual slumber and regain your personal divinity as a spirit in a body. This is the perspective that will help you manifest your hearts desires! However – there’s some house cleaning that needs to be done first!

Exercise #1 – The Purge List

Get a pad of paper or a notebook.gi-list

Dedicate some quiet time each day for personal reflection.

What are the hurts and resentments you’re still carrying with you? You know them. Is there a family member or friend who mistreated you? Does that same emotion fire up when you think about this? Write it down!

Write down all the pet peeves, complaints, anger and resentments. Be honest with yourself. Nobody else will be reading this list. This is your time to get absolutely real with yourself. As you’re writing everything down ask yourself if you’re finally ready to let it all go?

These past time situations are acting as blocks preventing you from bringing new positive things into your life. And they HAVE become your pet peeves! You feed them, you nurture them, you carry them with you everywhere you go, including into your mock-up space, which is why you keep attracting the same problems and situations over and over and over again.

I encourage you to spend time each day doing this exercise. When you’re done each day, take a moment to write down the things you’re thankful for in your life right now. We always want to end on a positive note!

Do this for seven days. Next week I will post a video of a powerful exercise that will guide you into hypnosis for the final purge before we move to our next exercise! Have fun with this! I can honestly say my life keeps getting better and I continue to prosper on all levels as I work these techniques!

I work with many people using manifestation principles such as the Law of Attraction. Through the years I’ve noticed that most everyone begins their journey of creating change by wanting to be ‘someplace else.’ “When I lose 25 pounds I’ll be happy. When I get more money I’ll finally feel secure. If I only had a relationship I would be able to like myself.”

This may sound good in theory, but the results that keep re-appearing in their lives is exactly what they don’t want to keep experiencing. They never lose the weight, get more money or have a lasting relationship. Why? Because they keep focusing on what they don’t want to happen! Remember, the Law of Attraction is always at play. We keep attracting into our consciousness and into our lives everything we’ve been thinking about. When I get more money equates to I have no money. If I had a relationship keeps the thoughts directed on I have no relationship and therefore don’t love or approve of myself. The key is to learn how to switch the thought tracks of our thinking AND to accept and be at peace with where we are in each moment. That’s the key!

If you want to lose weight, begin to accept the number on the scale today. Yes, change your eating habits and move your body more, but you still must accept where you are in this moment. If you want more money in your life and, let’s be honest, who doesn’t, accept the number you see in your bank account right now. You want a loving relationship? Accept being by yourself right now and start treating yourself better. Why? Because once you accept where you are – you can then create change. You realize you no longer have to stay stuck at that vibration.

Okay, so let’s say you’ve done all that, now what? You begin manifesting what you want in your life at the level you believe you can accept. It sounds great to say “I want a million dollars”, but maybe your subconscious mind can only accept one thousand dollars. It will immediately reject the idea of one million. Or twenty-five pounds sounds impossible at the subconscious level, but five pounds is completely plausible. Your subconscious mind may only be as large as a thimble and you want to pour a gallon of new awareness into it. It won’t work. You need to start where you are, right now.

Oh crud, Debi. Does that mean I’ll never be able to manifest anything larger than a thimble? Not at all. Once you begin taking your steps towards greater abundance by allowing yourself to be okay in the now, your subconscious mind will begin to expand to allow more awareness to flow in. It’s actually a fun process and very empowering! And of course, if you choose to use hypnosis to go into your subconscious mind and release the old thoughts and beliefs of lack and limitation your journey of creating positive change and living a healthy, abundant lifestyle will be even quicker!

Healthy Soil 3

The exercise I’m sharing today is an important step in the process of manifesting health, wealth and abundant living. I encourage you to give your ‘mock-up’ space the respect it deserves and you will reap the benefits of taking this extra time of preparation. It’s similar to the way farmers prepare the earth for planting. I used to watch this process every year on the farm where I grew-up. After the dormant winter months the farmers go into the fields turning over the soil. Then they’d walk the garden, picking out and throwing into a pile all the rocks that were brought up in the overturned dirt. It always amazed me how many rocks there were each year! It also explained why there are so many stone walls in New England – but that’s another story!

Tilling the soil before planting new crops is akin to tilling the soil of your subconscious mind. You want to uproot and cast aside the old, frozen stuck ways of thinking and feeling. These are the blocks, or, rocks, imbedded in your subconscious mind that create the belief thinking of lack and limitation. If you plant a new seed idea without clearing the soil, it most likely won’t sprout into what you desire. You need to clean out or destroy the old before bringing in, or creating, the new. This is the concept of creating and destroying.

Imagine you were given a bunch of money to buy a complete new wardrobe. When you get home from your shopping spree what must you do before putting away your new attire? You need to throw away the old worn clothing from the closet to make room for the new! The same is true for your subconscious mind; you need to clear out the closet of old thoughts of lack, limitation, poor health etc. before putting in the new thoughts of health, wealth and abundant living.

In my last post entry, Is It Okay To Want?,  the exercise was to write down different things you want to manifest in your life and to pay attention to the corresponding feelings around those desires. This brings us to exercise Number 2. I suggest you get a small notebook as you’ll be working with this for at least a week.

You’re going to take a walk through your life as it is, right now. I want you to write down all the uncomfortable thoughts, disappointments, feelings around every aspect of your life. This isn’t meant to be a bummer session! It’s important to acknowledge where you are in any given moment of time. In scripture it says “For nothing is secret that shall not be made manifest; neither anything hidden, that shall not be known and come to light.” Luke 8:17

Once you admit, which is to confess, how you feel about certain aspects of yourself and your life you allow yourself to realize you don’t need to stay in that state of mind any longer! It’s when we deny or pretend the complaints, worries, disappointments are NOT there is when we block ourselves from moving forward with positive change.

Exercise #2:

Get a notebook because you’ll be working with this for a week or more. Create categories to help keep your thoughts organized. Here’s an example.

Physical: Start with your body. How do you really feel about it? Unhappy with the tummy? Wish the legs were a bit more defined? Write down all the feelings and thoughts about your body. You can even begin with “I admit I have these thoughts and feelings….” because now you’ve brought it out into the light!

Move out to the place where you live. Your house or apartment. The neighborhood. Some things you have no control over and this isn’t about running away from situations. Again, it’s about acknowledging your thoughts and feelings.

What about your car or mode of transportation – write it all down!

Financial: What are your thoughts/feelings about your back account? Debt, your job or lack of employment? Get the idea?

Mental: What are your thoughts about yourself or the world around you? I admit I complain about this or that. I admit I don’t think very highly of myself. I feel inadequate when….

Spiritual: What are your beliefs about God? Do you have any? Do you believe you’re being punished? Not perfect enough? Are you angry at a particular church or priest or minister? Do you remember who you are as spirit? Write it down!

Again, the idea is to till the soil of your subconscious mind to bring up all the old stuck ways of thinking and feeling. After you’ve taken the time each day doing this, go back and write down the positive things in each category. This will help neutralize any discomfort during this important process. I like to end each session by blessing everything I have no matter how I feel about it at the time. And remember, once you truly accept where you are the good news is – you don’t have to stay there!

June 9, 2012 marks the one year anniversary of my unexpected resignation from the non-profit organization I was deeply involved with for thirty years. This was probably one of the most frightening decisions I’ve ever made and I was filled with fear and anger. My reason for leaving? My monthly stipend was taken away and I was offered a mere 20% of all the hypnosis work I was doing. What’s funny to me in hindsight is that I did not see this coming at all – so much for my psychic abilities! But it wasn’t funny at the time. At first I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach and couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t wrap my mind around what had taken place nor could I imagine how I was going to pay my rent and take care of basic living expenses. I was so angry that the two people I had called friends for thirty years had treated me this way, and then filled with sorrow when I realized they had never been my friends at all – friends don’t do that to each other. This has been one of my greatest life lessons. This unexpected change in plans, my biggest gift.

I now understand that I had been stuck for a long time and just didn’t know what to do to create change. And because I never dreamed of leaving my church the Universe came in and pulled the rug right out from under me and said, ‘there, now do something about it!’. It took the big Cosmic kick in the ass to get me moving.

The only thing I knew to do while I was regaining my grounding was to give. I increased my hours at Options Recovery Services where I offer hypnosis to the clients in recovery. This was my saving grace. By remaining in service mode my attention was focused on helping others and not on my personal problems. By working with the clients I was reminded again and again that I really didn’t have a problem at all – just a new challenge. Working with so many people each week was helping me hone my hypnosis skills as well and I’ve been able to create several new programs based upon the work I’ve been doing. Through volunteering my hypnosis services my personal business is now thriving. My creativity is flowing. My energy is moving.

After my stipend was cut I spent a week soul-searching and praying for guidance before making the decision to resign. The mantra that kept running through my mind was The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Probably the greatest spiritual prosperity treatment in the Bible is Psalms 23. Most people think of funerals when they hear this Psalm but it’s really about abundant living. This was my centering prayer day after day. I’ve decoded this Psalm using the information from Swedenborg and The Course in Miracles. Yes, contrary to what some people think, my spiritual life continues to thrive. I’m sharing my version of Psalms 23 in this post. First will be the original, then mine. I believe this says it all as we are all going through our personal versions of change and transitions.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters.

For Your Presence is always with me. Your Love and Truth ground and comfort me.
You show me how to un-match and rise above the negativity of those who dislike me. And my mind is re-centered on the bounty of prosperity that is available to me always.
You infuse my mind with Your Consciousness and my awareness expands to match Yours. My mind overflows with ideas for total health and abundant living.
I am certain, grounded in faith that Your vibration of love and compassion stays with me in every breath I take while in this templed body; and I will live in my Father’s Kingdom of Consciousness forever.

As a minister and practitioner of spiritual prosperity principles I believe deeply that to maintain flow in life we must keep the doors open to give. Whenever my husband and I experience financial challenges we go into ‘giving’ mode looking to see where we can give to someone or someplace, either our time, energy or money. The purpose is twofold. One, we don’t want to get stuck in a mentality of lack and limitation. Two, we know that the spiritual prosperity formulas work; when you give you are opening yourself up to receive more from God.

Ah, so giving is actually a selfish motive to receive, you might be saying. No, I am not saying that at all. Let me share some examples.

A couple of years ago I experienced a significant and unexpected financial set back. After my personality stopped freaking out my husband and I went to the bible and read passages on giving. We knew that the only way to climb out of this hole was to bless the situation and to give more. So we did. We increased our tithe to our church at the time, we gave free will donations and I started volunteering my hypnosis services at a drug/alcohol rehab center. This helped me take my mind off what I perceived to be problems and put me back in the modality of helping other people. Increasing what we gave to our church reminded us that God is the Source for all we have, not a person or a paycheck or a stipend.

The results? Soon my husband started getting lots of overtime at his job and I attracted more clients and students. Even better, we both felt at peace and secure with our financial situation even before the increases began.

This past June I received another huge, unexpected financial life challenge: the stipend I received for being a board member and Bishop of my church was taken away and I was only offered 20% of any hypnosis work I did. After meditating for a week I decided it was best for me to resign. This situation came out of the blue and was nothing I had planned for or anticipated. I had been with this organization for thirty years. After feeling frozen in fear with my personality doing another freak dance my husband and I looked at each other and said ‘time to start giving even more’. And yes, we did. And yes, life is plentiful and we are prospering. I give thanks and bless this ever abundant bountiful Universe in which we live!

Hypnosis and Giving: Your subconscious mind is already programmed for succes or failure and everything you are doing in your life is being dictated by that programming. Are you having financial challenges? Do you find yourself thinking in terms of ‘I don’t have, I can’t afford, I am scared of being poor?’ You are operating on the program imprinted in your subconscious mind while also energizing and setting yourself up to experience that which you don’t want to experience! Tell yourself you don’t have enough money and you’ve just created a vibration to repel money away from you.

The steps to bring you out of this mindset is to start giving, yet everything in your subconscious is screaming ‘No! Hold on to it! I can’t afford to give!’ The truth is, you can’t afford not to give.

In the book Prosperity, Charles Fillmore writes: “You may allow avariciousness and stinginess to develop in your mind domain until the very blood (representing soul awareness) in your body starts to dry up and your nerves are shaken and palsied with the fear of future poverty. If so, it is time these ideas were driven out and a new set of ideas settled in your domain to become active in building up a new state of consciousness.”

The beliefs you have are imbedded in your subconscious mind. Thinking new thoughts will help override those beliefs but hypnosis is the fastest, most effective way to actually remove them completely. Removing them is akin to a farmer preparing his field each spring before planting new crops. He tills the soil to remove the rocks and stones so the seeds have room to take root, grow and flourish. Likewise, as you release the old beliefs of lack, limitation, greed and avarice and plant new thought ideas of yearning to give and be more open, you will soon be enjoying the fruits of your labor. Open your heart and mind to give and the universe will teach you how to receive!
